The first ever Kerrera Kids Bike Event will take place from 11.15am on Sunday 10th October 2021!

The event will take place just 5 mins up the hill from the ferry, in the Balliemore Farm fields across from our community venue at the Old School. A marquee will be set up for registration starting from 11.15am (please aim for the 11am ferry). Lunch/ refreshments will be available for all with soup/sandwiches and drinks provided (donations are very welcome).

*IMPORTANT UPDATE* Due to the overwhelming positive response and number of entrants- we are now closing registration. Sorry if you've not managed to secure a place- if you would like to be added to the waiting list, please email aideen@isleofkerrera.org - available places will be offered to the waiting list first.

There will be 3 bike courses:

- a balance bike course for younger kids
- a Blue Mountain Bike Course for Juniors/Improvers (suggested age up to 12 years)
- a Black Mountain Bike Course for confident riders (suggested age 10 years +) this short course will have some jumps and steep down hills.
Black group riders will also be welcome to test their endurance on the Blue course. There will be time at the start for some practice runs of the courses. This will be followed by the time trials - entrants can complete several runs and pick their best time.

*There will also be opportunities for adults to check out our new fleet of island ebikes through the day*

A prize giving ceremony will take place around 2.30pm/3pm with our very special guest- pro-mountain biker, Lee Craigie, Director of the Adventure Syndicate, who is now the Active Nation Commissioner for Scotland and official representative of walking, cycling and physical activity across the nation (see photos). We're delighted to have her support! All participating kids will receive a medal and there will be some special awards for best times on the courses, along with sportsmanship and good vibes!

While we hope for a great turnout- there will also be a limit on how many kids we can actually accommodate on the day (approx. 50 max) so please, please be sure to pop your kids names down soon. This will also be really helpful to arrange the prizes and lunches on the day.

Huge thanks must go to the  Argyll & Bute  Council Supporting Communities Fund for supporting the event and to Balliemore Farm for providing the site for the course in the fields across from the Old School. Thanks also to Oban Cycles who are supplying some prizes and Adventure Oban who are helping to promote and support the event. The courses wouldn't exist without help from Tamas (thank you!), a. local kids bike club leader.

*We are still looking for volunteers to help marshal the event and time the trials, so please do get in touch if you can help: aideen@isleofkerrera.org
